Complete Naran Kaghan Travel Guide 2026 — Everything You Need to Know

June 15, 2026 — by NaranTours.pk

Naran Kaghan is Pakistan’s most beloved mountain destination — a valley in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa that draws millions of visitors every summer from across the country and beyond. If you’re planning your first or fifth trip, this comprehensive 2026 guide covers everything you need for a successful, safe and memorable visit.

Where is Naran Kaghan?

Naran is a small town at 2,409 metres (7,904 feet) above sea level in the Kaghan Valley, Mansehra District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Kaghan Valley runs approximately 160 km from Balakot in the south to Babusar Top in the north, following the course of the Kunhar River. Naran town sits in the upper half of the valley and serves as the base camp for most visitors exploring the region’s famous lakes, passes and meadows.

Best Time to Visit Naran Kaghan in 2026

The Naran season runs from approximately March to November, with the peak season from June through August. Here’s a month-by-month breakdown:

March–April: Lower Kaghan accessible, Shogran and Naran reachable, but Babusar Top still closed due to snow. Some wildflowers beginning in March at lower elevations. Hotel rates significantly lower.

May: Excellent shoulder season. Naran is accessible and beautiful. Babusar Top road may open in late May depending on snowfall. Fewer crowds, lower prices.

June: Peak season begins. Babusar Top opens mid-June after NHMP clears the road. All attractions accessible. Temperature 15–22°C in Naran. Wildflowers beginning to bloom.

July: Peak of peak season. All attractions at maximum beauty. Wildflowers at Lalazar, Siri Paye and meadows in full bloom. Temperature 18–25°C. Hotels fully booked weeks in advance. Most crowded — book early.

August: Continues peak season. Some monsoon rain possible but generally manageable. 16–23°C. Wildflowers at their richest. Schools on holiday — busiest month.

September: Golden shoulder season. Crowds thin significantly. Hotel rates drop 20–40%. Autumn colours beginning at forest edges. Temperature 10–18°C. Excellent photography conditions.

October: Late season. Beautiful autumn colours. Babusar Top closes late October. Facilities reduce as season winds down. Temperature 5–14°C — warm clothing essential.

November–February: Valley largely closed. Heavy snowfall blocks Babusar road. Shogran accessible with difficulty in 4×4. Only for experienced winter mountain travelers.
