Naran Weather by Month — Temperatures & Conditions 2026

Month-by-month Naran weather: real temperature ranges, road status, what’s open and what to pack — compiled by a local operator.

At a Glance
  • April-May: 15C day / 4C night, valley reopening
  • June-August: 20-25C day, peak tourist season
  • September-October: 13-19C day, clear skies, autumn colour
  • November-March: below freezing, valley closed
  • Babusar Top always 15-20C colder than Naran town

Naran town sits at 2,409 m, so its weather runs its own calendar — roughly two months behind the plains in spring and two ahead in autumn. Below is the month-by-month reality we plan tours around, with typical day/night temperatures for Naran itself (Babusar Top runs 15–20°C colder; Balakot 8–10°C warmer).

Month-by-Month Table

Month Day / Night Conditions & Access
January–February 2 / −8°C Valley closed beyond Kiwai; deep snow; Shogran winter trips only
March 7 / −3°C Thaw begins low; Naran still snowbound
April 12 / 2°C Road usually reopens to Naran late month; hotels reopening
May 16 / 4°C Saif ul Malook opens amid snow; Babusar closed; low prices
June 20 / 8°C Full green; Babusar opens mid-month; flowers begin
July 24 / 11°C Warmest; everything open; occasional monsoon spillover showers
August 23 / 11°C Lush; brief afternoon showers more common; peak crowds
September 19 / 6°C Clear and stable; autumn colour late month; Babusar open till ~late Sep
October 13 / 1°C Golden valley; frosty nights; upper valley closes; big discounts
November 7 / −4°C First heavy snow; valley closes progressively
December 3 / −7°C Closed season; snow accumulates

Three Weather Rules Locals Live By

Mornings win. Valley skies are clearest before noon year-round; afternoon cloud build-up is routine — every good itinerary front-loads the day. Altitude is the real thermostat. The same July afternoon reads 32°C in Balakot, 24°C in Naran and 8°C at Babusar — pack for the highest point of your day, not the forecast for “Naran”. Monsoon is a spillover, not a season. Kaghan sits behind the main monsoon wall; July–August bring short afternoon showers rather than plains-style deluges, and Shogran often floats above the weather entirely.

Planning around these numbers? The best-time guide turns them into a verdict, the packing guide into a suitcase, and the Babusar guide tracks the pass the weather controls.

Frequently Asked Questions

Even in July–August, Naran nights drop to 10–12°C, and June/September nights reach 6–8°C. A warm jacket is essential luggage in every month the valley is open.

Less than the plains — Kaghan sits partly behind the monsoon wall, so July–August typically bring brief afternoon showers rather than sustained rain. Mornings remain the reliable window.

Roughly 15–20°C colder — a 24°C Naran afternoon is 5–8°C on the pass, with wind chill below freezing possible any month it is open. Dress for the pass, not the town.

September — stable post-monsoon air gives the sharpest panoramas, followed by June. July–August are lusher but hazier with afternoon cloud.

In town, effectively no — but snow flurries occur at Babusar Top even in August, and fresh dustings hit the high meadows any month. Summer snowbanks beside the roads persist into July.

Most shutter by mid-November as the road closes beyond Kiwai, reopening late April to May. Shogran, lower and separately accessed, keeps limited winter operations.
