Mountain travel involves changing road, altitude, water and weather risks. No itinerary or booking confirmation guarantees that a road, attraction or activity will be safe or available on the travel date.
Vehicles and Drivers
Before departure, the operator should verify the vehicle’s required documents and condition and the driver’s licence and relevant mountain-road experience. Travellers should use seat belts where fitted, avoid overloading and unnecessary night driving, and accept delays or route changes when conditions deteriorate.
Altitude
Higher stops such as Babusar Top can cause altitude symptoms. Ascend gradually where possible, keep exertion light, and descend promptly if symptoms worsen. Travellers with relevant health conditions should seek medical advice before the trip; this page is not medical guidance.
River and Activity Safety
The Kunhar is glacier-cold and fast. Do not swim in the main current. For boats, rafting, zip lines, horse rides and similar activities, independently assess the current operator, equipment, briefing, weather limits and emergency plan. A tour listing is not a safety certification.
Weather and Road Decisions
Check current road and weather information with authorities and local operators. The trip lead should be able to delay, substitute or cancel an unsafe section. Travellers should not pressure a driver or guide to continue merely because a sight is listed in the itinerary.
Emergency Planning
Before leaving, ask who carries first-aid supplies, which emergency numbers and medical facilities apply, how no-signal sections are handled and who at the office monitors the trip. Save essential information offline and tell a trusted contact the route and expected return time.
