Overview

Six days is the sweet spot for the Kaghan Valley — long enough to reach every headline sight at an unhurried pace, short enough to fit a single week of leave. This Naran-focused package keeps you inside one valley rather than racing between provinces, so the driving stays manageable and the days stay full without feeling rushed. You start from Islamabad or Rawalpindi, break the climb with lunch at Balakot on the Kunhar River, and settle into Naran as your base for four nights.

From there the itinerary works outward to the classics: a 4×4 morning at Lake Saif-ul-Malook with Malika Parbat on the water, a full day up to Babusar Top and Lulusar Lake, and a gentler jeep run to the Lalazar plateau. Because Naran is your fixed base, you never repack in a hurry — each day is a loop out and back, which is why families and first-time visitors find this shape the easiest to enjoy.

The trip closes on a high note by dropping down to Shogran for a night, with a 4×4 climb to the Siri Paye meadows for golden hour and a bonfire evening before the drive home. Pickup runs from Islamabad and Rawalpindi, departures are available most weeks from May through early October, and the whole route is priced per person with a private car, guide and jeep transfers included. Road access to Babusar and the upper lakes is seasonal and weather-dependent, so exact stops are always confirmed against current conditions before departure.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

1
Day 1 Islamabad → Balakot → Naran

Depart Islamabad around 6:00 AM on the Hazara Motorway, breaking the climb with a lunch stop at Balakot on the Kunhar River. The road then winds up through Kawai, Paras, Mahandri and Kaghan town into ever-bigger scenery, reaching Naran (2,409m) by late afternoon for hotel check-in and a trout dinner.

2
Day 2 Lake Saif-ul-Malook

After breakfast a 4×4 jeep grinds up the rough track to Lake Saif-ul-Malook (3,224m), where Malika Parbat mirrors on the still water — the valley's signature view. There's time at the lake and an optional boat ride, then an easy afternoon back in Naran to browse the bazaar and riverside.

3
Day 3 Babusar Top & Lulusar Lake

A full day heads north through Battakundi and Burawai to the turquoise Lulusar Lake (3,410m), the source of the Kunhar River, then climbs to Babusar Top (4,173m) for the valley's widest panorama across ridge after ridge of peaks. We pause for photographs at the top before returning to Naran by evening.

4
Day 4 Lalazar & Batakundi

A gentler day takes a jeep up to the Lalazar pine plateau for easy meadow walks and wide valley views, then continues toward the Batakundi riverside upstream of Naran. With room for unhurried photography and tea by the water, it's a relaxed pause before the move to Shogran, returning to Naran to overnight.

5
Day 5 Naran → Shogran & Siri Paye

We drive back down to Kawai and transfer to a 4×4 jeep for the climb up to Shogran (2,362m), then on to the Siri Paye meadows (2,895m) for golden-hour light across the pastures and Malka Parbat. The night is spent at a Shogran mountain hotel, with a bonfire evening among the pines.

6
Day 6 Shogran → Islamabad

An optional early walk onto the Siri Paye meadows catches the sunrise before the day warms, then it's breakfast and checkout. We begin the scenic drive home down through Kaghan and Balakot, with photo stops along the Kunhar River as the mountains give way to foothills, reaching Islamabad in the evening.
