Overview

This is the tour for travellers who read about Babusar Top's 4,173-metre summit and decided that was the whole point of the trip — and honestly, they're not wrong to prioritise it. Three days built around Naran's two biggest single-day payoffs: Saif ul Malook at dawn, and the full high-altitude run to Babusar Top the following day, weather and season permitting.

Day one is the drive up and a free afternoon to settle into Naran — bazaar, riverside, an early dinner before an early start the next morning. Day two is Saif ul Malook by jeep at first light, when the lake mirrors Malika Parbat most cleanly, followed by the rest of the day free to rest before the bigger push. Day three is Babusar itself: a full-day drive north through Batakundi, Lulusar Lake and Besal to the pass summit, where — on a clear June-to-September day — the view stretches toward Nanga Parbat on the horizon before you turn back for Naran and the drive home.

This tour only runs at its full itinerary from roughly mid-June to late September, when Babusar's road is actually open; outside that window we substitute Shogran and Siri Paye and let you know honestly at booking rather than promising a summit that snow has closed. For travellers whose one non-negotiable is standing at the highest drivable point in the valley, this is the most direct route there — two headline sights, three days, no detours to destinations you didn't come for. Because Babusar's road only opens roughly mid-June to late September, we confirm current pass status before every departure and will substitute Shogran and Siri Paye without hesitation if snow or weather has closed the summit that week. Warm layers are essential even in July, since Babusar's summit temperature routinely sits fifteen to twenty degrees colder than Naran town below.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

1
Day 1 Islamabad → Naran

We depart Islamabad at 6:00 AM for the long, scenic climb up the Kaghan Valley, reaching Naran by mid-afternoon. After checking into the hotel and resting, the evening is free to wander Naran Bazaar — a good chance for trout dinner, tea and a first feel of the mountain town before an early night.

2
Day 2 Babusar Top & Lulusar Lake

A 6:00 AM start takes us north to Babusar Top (4,173m), the valley's highest road pass, for snow, sweeping panoramas and, on clear days, distant Nanga Parbat. We pause at Lulusar Lake (3,400m) on the way back, its turquoise water framed by peaks, returning to Naran for a bonfire dinner.

3
Day 3 Saif ul Malook & Return

A pre-dawn 5:00 AM jeep carries us up to Lake Saif ul Malook to catch the sunrise, when the water is stillest and the reflections sharpest — the best light for photographs. After time at the lake we return to Naran, then begin the drive back to Islamabad, arriving by evening.
