Among Naran Kaghan’s many adventure activities, Asia’s highest zip line stands out as one of the most exhilarating — a steel cable stretched across a dramatic gorge in the Kunhar Valley at over 2,400 metres above sea level, offering a bird’s-eye view of the mountain landscape that no jeep safari or lake visit can match.
Location
The zip line is located in the Kaghan Valley section of the Kunhar gorge, typically operated near Balakot or in the lower Kaghan Valley section. The exact launch point varies by season and operator — ask locally in Naran Bazaar or Balakot for the current operating location. GPS coordinates and exact address are best confirmed on arrival as operators shift positions seasonally.
Price & Duration
Cost: Rs. 1,500–2,500 per person for a single ride. The ride itself lasts approximately 60–90 seconds but the total experience (harnessing, safety briefing, ride, photo capture) takes 20–30 minutes. Group bookings of 5+ persons may qualify for a discount. All safety equipment is provided by the operator.
Safety & What to Expect
All operators are required to provide a full safety harness, helmet, gloves and a safety briefing. The recommended weight range is typically 40–100kg. Children under 10 are generally not allowed. The speed on the cable can reach 60–80 km/h, so prepare for a genuine adrenaline rush. The views mid-cable — with the Kunhar River gorge below and forested mountain ridges on every side — are the highlight.
Best Time
June through September is when the zip line operates. Morning or early afternoon visits are recommended for the clearest mountain views and most stable wind conditions. The zip line may close temporarily due to strong winds or rain.
Combining with Other Activities
The zip line pairs naturally with Kunhar River rafting for a full adventure day in the lower Kaghan Valley. Both can be done in a single morning before continuing north to Naran. See our Naran Jeep Rental guide for transport options.
