Top Activities & Adventures in Naran Kaghan 2026 — Beyond Saif ul Malook

June 18, 2026 — by NaranTours.pk

Most visitors to Naran Kaghan come for the famous Lake Saif ul Malook — and rightly so. But the Kaghan Valley offers a remarkable range of adventure activities that most tourists never discover. From boating and kayaking on the Kunhar River to Asia’s highest zip line above the valley, here’s the complete 2026 adventure activities guide.

Boating at Saif ul Malook Lake

One of the most memorable activities at Lake Saif ul Malook (3,224m) is a boat ride on the glacial water. Local operators row traditional wooden boats across the lake — Rs. 800–1,200 per person for a 20–25 minute ride. The perspective from the water, with the snow-capped peaks reflected around you, is breathtaking. Available June–September during daylight hours. Best in calm morning conditions before 9 AM.

Kayaking & River Activities on the Kunhar

The Kunhar River flows the entire length of Kaghan Valley and offers excellent water sports right in Naran town. White-water rafting on a 4–5km stretch of Class II–III rapids: Rs. 700–1,000/person, 45–60 minutes. Life jackets, helmets and an experienced guide provided. Available June–September. Morning trips (before 10 AM) offer calmer water. Families with children over 8 can participate safely.

Kayaking is available at the calmer stretches of the Kunhar near Batakundi — local operators provide single-seat kayaks for Rs. 500–800 for a 30-minute session. The turquoise glacial water and surrounding mountain backdrop make this a uniquely scenic kayaking experience.

Asia’s Highest Zip Line — Kaghan Valley

Kaghan Valley is home to what is claimed to be Asia’s highest zip line, operating at over 2,400 metres above sea level with breathtaking views of the valley below. The zip line stretches across a dramatic gorge section of the Kunhar Valley, giving participants a bird’s-eye perspective of the Kaghan landscape. Cost: Rs. 1,500–2,500 per person. Available seasonally (June–September). Check with local operators in Naran Bazaar for current location and booking.

Horse Riding

Horse riding is available at two main locations: Lake Saif ul Malook (Rs. 500–600/person, circuit around the lake) and Siri Paye Meadows above Shogran (Rs. 500–800/person, ridge circuits with Malka Parbat views). Both operated by Gujjar herders June–September. No experience required.

Paragliding from Shogran

Paragliding is available at Shogran where the ridge provides excellent thermal conditions for tandem flights. Cost: Rs. 3,000–5,000 per person for a tandem flight with a certified pilot. The combination of consistent valley winds and the dramatic drop into the Kunhar gorge below makes this an exceptional flying experience.

Trekking — Ansoo Lake, Noori Top & More

For serious trekkers, Kaghan Valley offers multiple high-altitude routes: Ansoo Lake (4,245m) — 6–8 hour strenuous day trek, teardrop-shaped lake at Pakistan’s most remote accessible altitude. Noori Top (5,012m) — multi-day mountaineering expedition from Jalkhad, highest point in Kaghan. Dudipatsar Lake (4,200m) — 2–3 day camping trek from Besal, “Queen of Lakes.” All require certified local guides, available through NaranTours.
