Naran Valley 2026 — The Complete Guide to Pakistan’s Most Beautiful Mountain Valley

June 20, 2026 — by NaranTours.pk

Naran Valley — officially known as the Kaghan Valley — is a 160-kilometre mountain valley in the Mansehra District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The Kunhar River flows its entire length from the high-altitude Babusar Top (4,173m) southward to merge with the Jhelum River near the AJK border. It is Pakistan’s single most visited mountain destination, drawing an estimated 1.5–2 million visitors every summer season.

What Makes Naran Valley Special?

Three things set Naran Valley apart from all other mountain destinations in Pakistan. First, its accessibility — just 230km from Islamabad, reachable in 5–6 hours. Second, its concentration of world-class attractions — within a single valley you find an iconic alpine lake (Saif ul Malook at 3,224m), a high mountain pass with snow (Babusar Top at 4,173m), an alpine hill station (Shogran at 2,362m), multiple meadows (Lalazar, Siri Paye) and a teardrop trekking lake (Ansoo Lake at 4,245m). Third, its elevation range — from 995m at Balakot to 4,245m at Ansoo Lake, the valley compresses an extraordinary range of ecosystems and landscapes.

Naran Valley Distance from Major Cities

From Islamabad: 230km via Hazara Motorway and N-35. Drive time 5–6 hours. Depart 6 AM for arrival by noon. From Lahore: 380km via M-2 Motorway. Drive 7–9 hours. Depart 4 AM. Drive 8–10 hours. From Faisalabad: 350km. Drive 6–8 hours.

Major Attractions in Naran Valley

Lake Saif ul Malook (3,224m): Pakistan’s most photographed alpine lake with its legendary mirror reflections at sunrise. 8km by 4×4 jeep from Naran Bazaar. Babusar Top (4,173m): Highest point in Kaghan Valley — snow in July, Nanga Parbat views on clear days, KPK-GB border. Opens mid-June. Shogran & Siri Paye (2,895m): Alpine meadows 80km from Islamabad with Malka Parbat panoramas and horse riding. Lulusar Lake (3,400m): Turquoise glacial lake on the Babusar route. Lalazar Meadows (3,100m): “Mini-Switzerland of Pakistan” — flat green grasslands and cedar forest, best in mid-July.
